How to make your Instagram Highlight name blank

Use a blank-looking character in the Highlight’s name field. “No name,” “empty Highlight name” and “blank Highlight title” describe the same appearance here: the stored name contains a character, but the label has no visible letters.

1. Open the Highlight you own. Go to your Instagram profile and find the existing Highlight whose label you want to change.
2. Find Edit Highlight. A commonly documented mobile route is to press and hold the Highlight, then choose Edit Highlight. If that menu is unavailable, open the Highlight and look for its More or edit menu. Menu labels and placement can vary by app version.
3. Replace the name, rather than adding to it. Select the entire current title and delete it. Paste one character from the copy options above into the name field. Leave the cover and selected stories alone.
4. Save, then inspect the profile. Tap Done or the save control your app shows. Return to your profile and reopen it to check whether the label is blank, unchanged or replaced with a default title.

Which blank character are you copying?

Hangul Filler, U+3164, is a Korean compatibility character with a blank-looking appearance. Unicode lists its identity and compatibility mapping. It is not the ordinary space your keyboard inserts.

The alternative is Braille Pattern Blank, U+2800. Unicode notes that it is shown as a fixed-width blank in many fonts but does not behave as a space. These properties explain why visually empty strings can contain different data; they do not guarantee that Instagram accepts either one.

Both appear in Copy Paste Dump’s Instagram character list. Start with one character, verify the saved result, and only then try the alternative if needed. We do not have a measured success rate that ranks them.

Why not just press the space bar?

A field can trim an ordinary space or treat an empty value differently from a blank-looking Unicode character. If a space-only title disappears or a default label returns, repeating more spaces does not establish the cause. Check the actual value instead. Zero Width Space is another distinct character; its line-break behavior is not evidence that it works as a Highlight title.

If the blank Highlight name does not work

The old title is still visible

Reopen the editor. If the old letters are still there, select the whole field before pasting again. A blank character appended to “Travel” does not hide “Travel.” If the edit was not saved, finish the save step first.

“Highlights” or another default name appears

Reopen the name field and copy its current value into the checker below, if the app lets you. No characters means there is no retained candidate in that value. An exact candidate means the issue is later in saving or display. The default label alone does not tell you which happened.

A box, dot or other symbol appears

First check that you copied U+3164 or U+2800, not surrounding punctuation. If the code point is correct, the receiving app or font may render it differently. Try the other single-character option and inspect it again; no character is guaranteed to look blank on every device.

The correct character is present but saving is rejected

Check whether a short visible title saves. If that works, the field may reject the blank candidate. If neither saves, check the app’s own error and connection before changing characters. Use a readable title if blank candidates remain unsupported.

For a longer string or unexpected extra characters, use the full invisible character checker. It reports positions without modifying the original text.

When a blank label helps—and when a name helps more

A cover-only arrangement can suit a personal profile with easily recognized images. For topics such as Prices, Hours or Booking, a short visible label usually makes the destination clearer. Removing the readable title removes that clue for visitors, especially when covers look similar.

Check the profile at its normal viewing size instead of judging only the editing screen. This method changes the text value; it does not redesign the Highlight layout or remove space reserved for labels.

How to restore a normal name

Open the same name editor, select everything—including the invisible character—and replace it with the title you want. Save and revisit the profile. You do not need to delete the Highlight or recreate its stories to replace the name.
